The 2010 edition of the "L’Extravergine" guide to the world’s best olive oils, the industry’s equivalent to Parker’s wine buyers’ guide to the world’s best wines, selected Bogaris oil, produced at the Bogaris Colchagua plant in Chile, for inclusion in its list of outstanding olive oils in 2010. Each year, the international tasting panel headed by renowned taster Marco Oreggia selects the world’s best oils and classes them by quality, defining their properties and tasting notes. The features appreciated by the panel in Bogaris oil included its intense golden hue with green highlights. In its olfactory score, it stressed the oil’s subtly complex fragrance, with a faint bouquet of artichoke and basil. Its gustatory notes mentioned the harmonious blend of bitter and pungency, its elegant taste and hints of fresh herbs, walnut and ripe almond. This distinction adds to the prestige earned by Bogaris' agricultural division, which has pioneered olive oil production, first in Portugal and now in Chile. Despite the industry’s youth in this latter country, it has already proven its enormous potential to produce extra virgin oil of a quality comparable to the best Italian and Spanish products.
