Bogaris began its business activity, initially in the field of agricultural product distribution, to become the main distributor of Du Pont de Nemours for southern Spain in a matter of only a few years.

The company DETEA was formed, the kernel that was to become the Construction and Engineering Division of the present Bogaris and initially engaged in the marketing of structural steel shapes with variable cross-sections.

DETEA evolved from a strictly commercial to a building company, initially engaged in structure only and subsequently becoming a turnkey industrial construction company.

The first development and investment company was formed to build a facility in Seville for Bridgestone-Firestone, which was delivered to it on a lease basis. This marked the beginning of Bogaris’ investment and property business.

Consolidation of the development business, with the execution of a contract to build and lease the Carrefour Logistics Platform for Andalusia and the Canary Islands, on a 70,000 m2 lot with a building area of 43,000 m2. The first leases were also entered into with other multinational retail distributors such as Lidl and Plus.

Drawing on its engineering business, Bogaris, through its long-time subsidiary BECOSA, embarked on its first renewable energy generation projects. The first project implemented was a cogeneration facility with an installed capacity of 5.2 MW for the oil group Migasa, the first of other similar plants developed for this customer.

An agreement was concluded in Seville on the location for the first retail park, in which leases would subsequently be signed with McDonald´s, Porcelanosa, Día and Feu-Vert, among others.

Bogaris, at that time bearing the name of GRUPO DETEA, was formed, with its business organised in the four divisions of Construction and Engineering, Specialised Real Estate Development, Energy and Environment and Agriculture.

Land was acquired to develop “Málaga Nostrum”, the largest retail project undertaken to date in Andalusia. With an area of 190,000 m2, it opened to the public three years later as an entertainment centre, “Factory Outlet”, retail park and business centre.

The Energy and Environment Division built its first construction and demolition waste treatment plant in greater Seville. This project was followed by others in Cadiz and Huelva. This division also began to process the first wind and solar energy projects. Bogaris made its first international investment, purchasing a 1,430 hectares agricultural holding in Portugal to initiate production on the largest olive grove in operation to date in Europe. The first permanent office in Eastern Europe was also opened, specifically in Bulgaria, to undertake Specialised Real Estate Development projects.

International expansion was consolidated with projects in Poland and Romania. Bogaris’ first Wind Farm, a 24 MW facility, was commissioned in Jerez de la Frontera, along with the first biomass plant for the total elimination of olive mill waste. The first customised factory was built for lease, in this case to the multinational Crown Cork and Seal.

Consolidation of Bogaris’ investment activity in the context of “customised factory” development, with projects for multinationals such as Carnaud MetalBox and Schott. Opening of offices in Chile, Mexico and Argentina with a view to developing new olive groves.

Bogaris began to focus on its investment activity, with the discontinuation of its service businesses, spinning off Construction and Engineering and fortifying its Real Estate, Energy and Environment and Agriculture Divisions. Corporate name change from the former GRUPO DETEA to the present Bogaris.

Bogaris’ 20th anniversary marked its consolidation in the Agroindustry sector, with the building and bringing into operation of the first olive mill in Portugal, where a million kilograms of olive oil were produced entirely from olives harvested in the Group’s farms.
